2008 Revised Technical Standards
Will be included
Topics included are Septic Tanks: design, structure, function;
Watersheds and drainage profiles, Soils: physical characteristics,
profiles and types, identification; Site Conditions: deep
hole and percolation testing, plumbing and pipe configuration;
Distribution Systems; Leaching fields; trenches, dry wells,
galleries; Curtain Drains; Biomat; Septic Failures; Transit
work and surveys; Septic Design: MLSS, plans and sketches,
forms, etc.
The school will cover all sections
of 19-13-B103 and 19-13-B100a of the CT Public Health Code,
Technical Standards and the Design Manual for subsurface
sewage disposal systems. Example questions of the type
encountered on the installer’s
exam will be covered. Practical exercises will be assigned
for class work and field encountered problems will be discussed.
Materials
Materials you will receive: updated CT Public Health Code
19-13-B103 & Technical Standards for Subsurface Sewage
Disposal Systems (SSDS), Design Manual for SSDS, a Study
Guide & other handouts.
Cost: $150.00 tuition
fee for COWRA Members & their Employees. Non-Members tuition
fee of $300.00. The 2008 Study Guide is not
included in the tuition fee; it is an additional $55.00

The dead line to get you application in is January 4, 2007 with
leniency to extend if needed.
Please note payment must be submitted with your application. The
cost of the study guide is extra at $55.00

2008 Revised Technical Standards

Topics included are Septic Tanks, design, structure, function;
Watersheds and drainage profiles. Outlet filters, Port-o-lets,
etc.
The school will cover specifically sections
of the CT Public Health Code 19-13-B103 General Provisions
(pages 5 and 6 in the code) and 19-13-B100a. as well as the
Technical Standards Section V. on Septic Tanks (pages 28-32 in the code) Chapter
9 on Septic Tanks and Grease Traps from the Design Manual. There will be example
questions of the type encountered on the State Cleaner/Pumper’s exam offered
by DPH. Practical exercises will be assigned for class work and field encountered
problems will be discussed. The vast majority of the questions on the cleaner
exam come from the parts of the code, the technical standards and the Design
Manual.

Cost: $45.00 for COWRA
members & $95.00 for
non-members (Employees of COWRA member companies may pay at a member's fee.)
A fee of $30.00 for the Study Guide for Pumper’s is not
included in the tuition fee.

Please Note: Class will be
scheduled upon the enrollment of 3 or more students. Students
interested in attending a Septic Cleaner School should fill
out the form below and mail or email this application to
COWRA. Do not sent payment with this application. Payment
will be due when the class is scheduled.
